"According to the Henely Standard of the 15th January 1999 the Kings Arms has been sold to Henley Town Council for £300,000. The Council plans to restore the mediaeval barn at the back of the pub and open the site as the Henley Tourist Information centre and the Citizen Advice Bureau. It is estimated that the repairs and renovations will cost an addition £300,000, Another old Henley pub lost!" - Nick, January 1999
"Tried to go to the King's Arms in December 1998 for a lunchtime pint and found that the pub was shut. Through the window I could see the bar was thick with dust and all the furniture had been removed. It looks like a temporary closure has become permanent." - Nick, December 1998
"King's Arms - now temporarily closed again, being refurbished after a kitchen fire. Nick, the licensee from spring to autumn of 1997, now has the Black Boy at Hurley - or at least, he did last time I went in there." - Tim, May 1998
"Well, nothing seems to have changed since my last visit (June 1997). One o'clock, four customers. Three Geordies who have moved from the Three Tuns and a man with a beard, Me." - Vincent, September 1997

"Visited the Kings Arms for a swiftie. Inside were two old ladies and a young barman. The walls had just been painted yellow and a few pieces of bric-a-brac thrown on. An expensive menu looked bored and neglected. Did not notice a juke box. They had no Special left, just Ordinary, but it was OK. This pub had just been taken over and it looks like it needs a lot done to it to get a steady turnover. The barman said that the garden would be opened up which sounds potentially good so I'll pop back in a few weeks and give it a second try." - Vincent, June 1997
"When I last went there on a Saturday night about 10 ish there were 2 bar staff, one drunk at the bar talking to them and 2 motorbikers (one female I think) sat looking at their pints and not talking. The male motorbiker looked like a loony axe murderer. Shame, cos they have a great juke box. Ok to go there if you are in a group and do not want to talk to anyone else... I think most of the people in there would find conversation difficult. Nice bar stools." - Luci, August 1996
"Absolutely nothing about this one!!!" - Mary, July 1995
"I have only ever been in this pub once which was in Easter 1983 and so my views are a little out of date! In addition, I was drunk at the time and the only thing I can remember about it was the condom machine in the gents loos was particularly odd! The pub is handy for the Police Station which is next door!" - Nick, July 1995
